About

Orpy is an electronic artist and producer from Dublin, Ireland.

In a past life, he spent time in post-rock bands, working on ambient projects, and writing acoustic songs, all of which eventually led to the slightly less social pursuit of making electronic music on his own... building tracks from fragments and samples that slowly take shape over time.

His journey into electronic music began during the COVID lockdowns, born in the midst of a what he calls a prolonged panic attack (which turned out to be an unexpectedly effective starting point for making music).

Orpy's music carries echoes of DJ Shadow's sample-led production, the atmosphere of Massive Attack, and the melodic warmth of Bonobo.

The tracks are built from samples and recorded sounds, shaped into electronic pieces with a focus on mood and contrast. Influences include DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, Bonobo, Moby, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd.

His debut album "Ní bhíonn in aon rud ach seal" ("Everything is Temporary") is coming mid-2026. A collection of tracks built around ideas of change, time, and impermanence.

Sound

Orpy builds tracks from samples, recorded sounds, live instruments, and synth pads. Field recordings and small melodic pieces cut from other places sit alongside drum and bass lines that are prominent in the mix. The samples are a core part of the texture—some carry voices, some carry melodic fragments, some are more abstract. The music shifts in mood across tracks, moving between darker moments and warmer ones, but always with a sense of purpose behind it.

Think Massive Attack meets Moby.

Live Show

Orpy's live set takes the recorded material and reworks it for a room. The visuals are built into the performance, not an afterthought. It's designed for venues, electronic nights, and festivals where sound and image work as one experience.
